The most notable of the Treeshes was called Ohmshar. He was brave and strong. He was a being of uncommon wisdom and intelligence, and the others revered him and naturally rallied around him. Even though this society had no leader, he naturally became the first sage. He walked the earth fertilising the mountains and plains. Deserts turned into lush oases, dry lands came to life. Wherever he set foot, life flourished. He witnessed many eras. But his most notable achievement was his sacrifice. One day, a rock came from the sky. It crashed so hard into the earth that Ohmshar trembled. Frightened, the oceans shook and unleashed their turmoil on the land, the volcanoes began to spit fire, the land broke up and moved away. The sage, aware of the disaster, called out with a mighty cry, all the beasts and insects. His shout split the air, carried by the wind, it crossed the seas. He then created a bubble of protection and rooted himself so deep in the earth that it reached the core. The tip of its roots burned, and he created a huge dome of protection on the surface. Its proteges followed, denuding their branches and solidifying their bark. Soon a giant dome that was miles in length appeared. Impervious to all outside forms, it had its own ecosystem so nothing outside could disturb it. The energy he had used was such that he died. But it did not disappear, it materialised in the centre of the dome giving birth to a species of phosphorescent plants bringing light into this new environment. His work remained and created a viable habitat for the species that had taken refuge there. Outside, the earth had burned, and a veil of dust covered the land, leaving no room for the sun. Most beings died, starving. The land was devastated. Some oceans were spared, leaving single-celled species to thrive, so small that they could easily survive.
